Its Sunday, a day to reflect and rejoice for we have another week ahead of us. I heard two great phases this week. One is that if you look up to the heavens with a smile on your face it reliefs stress. Another thing that was told to me is that all of us are like pots with cracks in them but regardless of ones faults; we all are Gods children and he knows that we all have special talents. We need to use them to the postive note.
Today is a bright and sunny day with lots of smiles . Dan and I are sitting down in front of our kitchen table filling out paper work. This year so much has happened to us, for one Dan became disabled due to his foot and other issues. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The income that we both once had; split in half, but not the bills. Before I found out I had cancer all our credit cards were paid up, no car loans just a house payment and a student loan that we cosigned for our daughter. Yes, she received her Masters in Fashion although there was a price.
I am not complaining, just opening up personally. We as Americans need to do something about OUR MEDICAL SYSTEM AND STUDENT LOANS. These are two huge problems in the USA.
Bankruptcies due to medical bills increased by nearly 50 percent in a six-year period, from 46 percent in 2001 to 62 percent in 2007, and most of those who filed for
medical bankruptcy’ were middle-class, well-educated homeowners, according to a report that will be published in the August issue of The American Journal of Medicine.
A recent Census Bureau report estimates the number of Americans without health insurance has grown from 46.3 million people without coverage in 2008 to 50.7 million people in 2009 – an increase of almost 10 percent in just one year. Given the state of the jobs market and overall economy, that number is likely to be higher in real-time (July 2011).
The moral of the story is we may be broke, but I have my life and living it to the fullest each day without chemo and radiation.
