Hello Everyone,
Its Tuesday and hunkering down for the 29th
day of our isolation from the corona virus.
The last couple of months I was doing a series of gratitude and thankfulness. You can go to my you tube channel and see the
whole series -
During this time, I focused the blog on laughter, smiling, gratitude and being
thankful. I related this to how this
benefits our health.
This month, I will be focusing the virus and how it is affecting
the whole world in many ways. I was debating to even write about the virus, but
this is a health blog. I would not be
true to myself and my passion to choose not to speak about this outbreak.
But how did the deadly outbreak start? In researching
this topic, its not hard for it is all over the web. And yes, it may seem gloom and doom; however,
I believe it is something worth talking about.
Remember when you were in school and had to do a research paper. We used to go to the library and take out
books on the topic and read to form your own opinion. Well, I’m giving you what I have found out and
it’s up to you to check out for yourselves what you believe. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, we have to open up to all
options for there is FAKE NEWS and REAL NEWS.
Theory one -
The first confirmed case of COVID-19 has been traced back
to 1 December 2019 in Wuhan; one unconfirmed report suggests the earliest
case was on 17 November. Doctor Zhang Jixian observed a cluster of
pneumonia cases of unknown cause on 26 December, upon which her hospital
informed Wuhan Jianghan CDC on 27 December. Initial genetic testing
of patient samples on 27 December 2019 indicated the presence of a SARS-like corona virus. A public notice was released by Wuhan Municipal Health Commission
on 31 December. The WHO was informed on the same day. As these
notifications occurred, doctors in Wuhan were warned by police for
"spreading rumors" about the outbreak. The Chinese National
Health Commission initially claimed there was no "clear evidence" of
human-to-human transmission.
The World Health Organization's China office says it
began receiving reports in late December of a mysterious virus behind a number
of pneumonia cases in Wuhan, a city in eastern China with a population of
roughly 11 million people.
Researchers suspect the virus originated at a seafood
market in Wuhan, where wild animals, including birds, rabbits, bats, and snakes
are traded.
It was initially believed the virus came from snakes. But
a research paper by a team of virologists at the Wuhan Institute for Virology
suggests that the corona virus more likely came from bats, which was also the
source of the SARS outbreak.
Bats are known to carry multiple viruses without getting
sick, according to the New York Times, which said they have caused human
diseases in Africa, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Australia, and are thought to be
the reservoir for Ebola.
Theory two-
There are two main versions of the rumor, and they have
one common thread: that the corona virus, SARS-CoV-2, originated in a level 4
(the highest bio safety level) research laboratory in Wuhan.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has repeatedly suggested before
Congress and on Fox News that the virus could have come from the lab.
Theory three-
The government introduced the corona virus in 2018, and
Bill Gates was also somehow responsible.
On January 21st, QAnon YouTuber and professional
shit-strirrer Jordan Sather tweeted a link to a patent for corona virus filed by
the U.K.-based Pirbright Institute in 2015. “Was the release of this disease
planned?”
Theory four –
Internet trolls have seized on 5G and its political
implications to sow fear, leading to protests in the United States and
elsewhere against the technology in recent years. Russians have pushed claims
that 5G signals were linked to brain cancer, infertility, autism, heart tumors
and Alzheimer’s disease, all of which lacked scientific support.
In January, as the corona virus rippled through Wuhan,
China, and beyond, it provided new fodder for anti-5G trolls. On Jan. 19, a
post on Twitter speculated on a link between 5G and the disease, according to
Zignal Labs, a media insights company that studied 699,000 mentions of the
conspiracy this year through April 7.
Dan and my opinion are still out for discussion, we are
still researching and out for debate.
Here are some of the things you can do to help protect
yourself and your family:
Wash your hands
Everyone
can help stop the spread of corona virus is washing their hands regularly, by
washing our hands with soap and water for the length of time it takes to sing
Happy Birthday twice. It is recommended, scrubbing every bit of skin from your
wrist downwards for at least 20 seconds, focusing on one hand at a time. Products with at least 60 per cent alcohol are
effective against corona virus. Many products made for sensitive skin contain
less than 60 per cent.
A recent study published by the respected Cochrane
Database showed hand washing is the best way to cut the risk of catching a
disease such as coronavirus - reducing the odds by 54 per cent.
Clean your phones, counter tops and other
surfaces, outside packages and door knobs
The public has also been urged to clean their smartphone
screens twice a day with alcohol wipes to help combat the spread. The average
person picks up their phone 2,600 times a day and uses it around 76 times. Surfaces
like glass are an ideal environment for viruses to thrive.
Peter Hall,
professor of public health at the University of Waterloo, described mobile
phones as “portable petri dishes”. He suggests people should clean their phones
at lunch and after returning home in the evening to kill germs collected at
work and while commuting.
Protect elderly relatives
The elderly is most at risk from the virus and doctors
are urging people to stay away from vulnerable relatives if they are ill. The
death rate from corona virus in China - where the virus first spread - has been
ten times higher in over 70s compared to those aged under 59.
-if you are sick, stay at home; eat & sleep
separately from your family; use different utensils & cutlery to eat
-if you develop shortness of breath, call your doctor
& seek care immediately
If you are 60+, or have an underlying condition like
cardiovascular disease, a respiratory condition or diabetes, you have a higher
risk of developing severe #COVID19. Try to avoid places where you might
interact with people who are sick. # corona virus
Seek advice if returning from affected areas.
Don't travel to affected areas
Wash clothes thoroughly
Clothing is another key way viruses can be carried and
spread by humans. Using a dryer on high heat can also help kill harmful
bacteria and stop bacteria surviving and multiplying on damp clothes. People
are also recommended to wash their hands after handling dirty laundry.
Be aware
of underlying health conditions
Corona virus death rates among people with diabetes and
underlying heart and respiratory problems have been more than 10 times higher
than those with no previous health problems across the globe.
Use face masks appropriately
Commuters and shoppers wearing faces masks is becoming an
increasingly common sight across the world as corona virus spreads. If people
are ill, masks are only effective when used in combination with frequent hand
washing and if the masks are properly disposed of. People who have been
diagnosed with corona virus or who are ill after returning from an affected area
should not be out in public - with or without a mask.
Purchase
necessary food
There is no need for mass stockpiling of food or other
goods but medics have suggested it could be wise to keep some essentials handy
in case of the need for self-isolation.
Follow public health guidance
People are also urged only attend hospital in case of an
emergency as the health service comes under increasing strain. For the majority
of people corona virus will be best treated through self-isolation and over the
counter medicines.
Know your rights
Travel to work safely if needed
Stay at home
RISE AND SHINE
In the coming days, I will take about the corona virus symptoms,
natural supplements to keep your immune system healthy, foods that keep your
immune system healthy, ways to keep active while hunkering down. Until then, peace and love.
P.S. One of my sisters
suggested that I add a craft, since most are hunkering down. Thank you for your suggestions. Please if any others have some suggestions or
topics, email me.
